**Position Information**:
Cranebrook High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school serving a diverse community in Western Sydney with a current enrolment of 850 students. 20% of the school population identifies as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 5% of students are from a non-English speaking background. Cranebrook High School has a large Support Faculty, catering for 65 students with intellectual, behavioural and physical disabilities, that focuses on social and learning inclusivity. The Learning Support Team is high functioning, has a significant level of experience and expertise and supports students from years 7 to 12 with a range of effective initiatives and programs. The school has a dynamic student leadership group that contributes significantly to the school community. Cranebrook High School has developed strong links with local community groups and external organisations in order to support and improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes, including post school options. The highly committed teaching and support staff is diverse in terms of experience.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Capacity to lead the Science faculty in implementing innovative, high quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs and assessment practices.

Ability to lead a team the Science faculty in developing a culture of professional practice that ensures the provision of engaging and strategic learning environments which lead to improved learning outcomes for a diverse range of students, including students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage.

Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and productively as a member of the school executive team in leading the implementation of whole school initiatives that address the goals of the strategic plan.

Demonstrated capacity to lead professional learning, including behaviour management and engagement, developing literacy and numeracy practices, and high potential and gifted education.

Ability to engage effectively with the whole school community, including the provision of highly engaging primary school transition programs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
