The Head Teacher Social Sciences at Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum in the social sciences with a particular emphasis on Business Studies and High Performance and Gifted Education across the curriculum. The Head Teacher will lead a team of teachers to ensure high-quality educational programs are delivered to support student learning and achievement in the Social Sciences included related VET courses. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the school executive team to drive strategic initiatives and improve student outcomes.
Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria :
Proven capabilities in leading the development and implementation of the Social Sciences secondary school curriculum including the VET options in the Senior School.
Demonstrated ability to support the professional development and growth of teachers through mentoring and coaching within the faculty with a focus on Explicit Teaching practices and the development of High Potential and Gifted Education priorities for all students.
Experience in collaborating with teachers and school leaders to develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes, including academic performance, catering for all students including High Potential Gifted Education students.
Capacity to work closely with parents to engage all learners in the education process including a focus on engagement and student individual growth.
General Selection CriteriaSuccessful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
