**The Role**
Under direction of the program lead, undertake a wide variety of complex tasks related to the Maritime Systems Divisions Work Health and Safety (WHS) program.

The duties within this role include:

- Participate in the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the MSD Work Health Safety Plan and Supplier Safety Assurance program.
- As a lead auditor or team member, participate in supplier WHS assurance and compliance activities.
- Monitor internal safety compliance and assurance metrics, including the collation, analysis and identification of trends in WHS incident data.
- Contribute to organisational performance reporting.
- Provide supplier safety assurance support to key MSD suppliers, including participation in continuous improvement and risk minimisation programs.
- Deliver WHS support and advice to Business Units, agencies and other departments.
- As a team leader or member, provide in-contract support to Business Units in the conduct of audits, risk analyse, WHS supplier safety and quality assurance planning and investigations.
- Research legislative, Defence and other organisational requirements, policies and process to support investigations, recommendations and advice.
- Develop briefs, minutes and reports as required.
- Participate in and contribute to Defence and CASG programs for the development of WHS related policies and procedures.
- Represent the Directorate of Maritime WHSE as required.

As the APS5 WHS Officer you will be part of an intergrated team of WHSE professionals within the Directorate of Maritime WHSE. This Directorate consists of both APS and ADF members to provide cross class through life support through the development, delivery and assurance of WHSE products to NSSG business units. As the APS 5 WHS Officer they must:

- Be able to work in an integrated workforce consisting of ADF and APS.
- Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders.

You will be required to:

- Assist and undertake WHSE assurance activities and audits.
- Extract WHS data from the WHS incident reporting system.
- Enter and extract data using audit tools against criteria.
- Use your prior knowledge in OHS / quality auditing to plan, undertake and report on audit and assurance activities.
- Previous experience in a large organisation, maritime or construction would be highly advantageous.
