This key leadership role will oversee the management of the life insurance balance sheet for both local and Group reporting, including forecasting, business planning and analysis of experience in an agile environment. Leading a team of eight, you will manage balance sheet in the actuarial context, as well as provide support and advice to the Chief Life Actuary. Working with various teams across the business, you will help to effect optimum utilisation of Zurich’s overall business assets and resources in Australia and New Zealand.

- Managing and maintaining an efficient balance sheet including local regulatory capital, Zurich Group economic capital and liquidity
- Preparation of relevant regulatory reporting, including APRA forms
- Managing the relationship with Zurich Group Treasury and dialogue of cash remittance planning/dividend payments
- Supporting Finance and other functions (such as Risk and Pricing) on balance sheet impacts from operational and strategic business decisions
- Providing insights through data and analysis; explaining implications and tradeoffs between capital metrics with proposed recommendations
- Supporting the Risk team in the delivery of ICAAP related processes, including stress testing.
- Working with the Investment Management team to support investments decision-making and monitor and manage asset-liability risks.

- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia or equivalent body
- At least 10 years post qualification experience including senior actuarial and management roles
- Strong knowledge of local statutory/regulatory guidelines and rules in the Australian life insurance industry.
- Deep understanding of actuarial processes and techniques in a life insurance context
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build and mentor high performing teams
- Experience partnering with multi-disciplinary Finance teams
- An analytical mindset and innate ability to implement solutions
- Demonstrated experience in writing Board-level reports
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
