**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian-based Mining Contractor. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining, and Drill and Blast Divisions.**

**About the Role**:

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Safety & Training Advisor for a project in the Pilbara.
- 8:6 Roster
- Permanent Position with Long Term Work
- Ensuring the strong development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety systems
- Taking ownership of governance inspection and auditing
- Management of Health and Safety reporting systems, regulatory reporting systems
- Provide advice, interpretation and guidance to Management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within the OH&S sector
- Analysing trending data to identify at risk areas and adequately implement proactive controls and target audits to manage potential negative outcomes
- Ensure training and education with regards to systems, statutory appointments, hazard awareness, reporting and duty of care is delivered and captured
- Incident prevention and investigation
- The development and delivery of training requirements e.g., PPT across the site or as directed by management
- Conducting Verification of Competencies (VOC) documentation as per company requirements.
- Engage with SMS Training Department with scheduling, booking and co-ordination of both internal and external training activities.

**Skills and Experience**:

- Worked at a Maintenance Safety & Training Advisor Senior level for at least 5 years
- Worked in the Health and Safety mining sector, onsite for at least 5 years
- Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety - Diploma preferred
- Current Cert IV Trainer & Assessor (TAE40116)
- Experience in a Site based Safety / Training role within a mining Maintenance environment
- Proven exposure to and trained in ICAM investigations
- Ability to undertake a gap analysis of site training matrix / training needs analysis (TNA)
- Current First Aid (Desirable)
- Proven experience with development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of Health and Safety systems
- Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including our major clients
- Excellent computer skills
