**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian based Mining Contractor. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining and Drill and Blast Divisions.**At SMS we pride ourselves on our positive work culture and ability to deliver desired results. **About the Role**:We are currently looking for a Maintenance Safety Advisor for a project in the Pilbara.
- 8:6 Roster
- Permanent Position
- Long Term Work
- Ensuring the strong development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety systems
- Taking ownership of governance inspection and auditing
- Management of Health and Safety reporting systems, regulatory reporting systems
- Provide advice, interpretation and guidance to Management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within the OH&S sector
- Analysing trending data to identify at risk areas and adequately implement proactive controls and target audits to manage potential negative outcomes
- Ensure training and education with regards to systems, statutory appointments, hazard awareness, reporting and duty of care is delivered and captured
- Incident prevention and investigation

**Skills and Experience**:

- Worked at a Health and Safety Senior level for at least 5 years
- Worked in the Health and Safety mining sector, onsite for at least 5 years
- Cert IV (minimum) in Workplace Heath and Safety - Diploma preferred
- Current Cert IV Trainer & Assessor (TAE40110)
- Exposure to or training in Emergency Management practices and systems
- Proven exposure to and trained in ICAM investigation
- Current First Aid
- Strong working knowledge of or open-cut mining maintenance
- Proven experience with development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of Health and Safety systems
- Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including our major clients
- Excellent computer skills
