**SMS Mining Services is a privately owned, West Australian-based Mining Contractor, Part of the Rivet Group. Founded in 2000, SMS has progressed from being solely Equipment Rental to now having extensive involvement in the Maintenance, Contract Mining, and Drill and Blast Divisions.**

Reporting to The Asset Manager, The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the equipment for their specific sites. The role is based in the Perth office, with regular site visits (3-5 days per month)

**About the Role**

You will be responsible for support to the Maintenance Superintendents on site and ensuring our fleet achieves maximum availability for mínimal cost. You will provide leadership and direction to all maintenance personnel, with a focus on maintaining a safe, reliable, and productive site.

**Duties**
- Communicate daily with site/team to discuss operations, manpower, productivity, and utilization of equipment.
- Approve invoice costs, and requisitions and confirm labour costs and works were completed to SMS standards.
- Prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving and solving maintenance-related issues.
- Develop and implement maintenance and preventative programs.
- Monthly reporting
- Review the operation of equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Monitor and control the use of inventory stock for spare parts, supplies and equipment.
- Resource and utilize a computerized maintenance management system (AMT) for planning maintenance and storing maintenance history.
- Assist HR with the hiring of maintenance personnel as well as training programs for apprentices.
- Work with operating equipment manuals to resolve product issues.
- Complete regular site visits. At a minimum 3 - 5 days a month.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvement of equipment reliability and availability.
- Manage and minimize downtime of equipment.
- Staff management and performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge and contribution made to SMS.
- Manage contract labour across projects.
- Plan and budget costs to be managed and reviewed.
- Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.

- Support SMS's commitment to safety excellence
- Comply with all SMS health, safety and environmental requirements and legislative requirements.
- Immediately report any injury, incident, near miss and hazard.

**Skills and Experience**
- Mechanical trade certificate with 8 + years experience in a mobile maintenance supervisory position
- AMT and Entire maintenance related packages
- A strong commitment to health, safety, environment, and the community
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- The ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
