**About the Branch**:
The Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme offers landholders, communities and businesses the opportunity to run projects in Australia that avoid the release of greenhouse gas emissions or remove and sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
ACCU Scheme: Vegetation and Analytics Branch supports the administration of projects that sequester carbon through the restoration, regeneration and protection of native forest and plantation forestry. The Branch is also responsible for the delivery of geospatial services to the ACCU Scheme, and providing analysis and reporting in support of the whole ACCU Scheme.
The ACCU Scheme: Vegetation and Analytics branch is responsible for analytics and reporting in support of the whole ACCU Scheme, administering the participation and crediting components of vegetation-type projects in the scheme as well preparing for the Nature Repair Market. The Branch makes a vital contribution to the agency’s objective of accelerating carbon abatement in Australia by helping to ensure the scheme operates efficiently and with integrity. The Branch undertakes a wide range of administrative, regulatory and policy functions and works collaboratively across the agency and with stakeholders, to support the executive, ACCU Scheme participants and business areas.

**About the Section**:
The Geospatial Analytics and Reporting section is responsible for delivery and enhancement of capabilities that improve engagement, participation and administration of the ACCU Scheme.
The section supports data and geospatial analysis capabilities that deliver internal and external reporting, provide advice, and analytical products to support compliance monitoring and scheme assurance.
The section also contributes to the development of delivery of agency-wide systems and frameworks supporting the administration of our schemes and works with government and non-government partners on initiatives supporting the carbon farming industry.
**Role Responsibilities and Duties**:
Under general direction, the **APS Level 4 Geospatial Analyst** will be expected to:
- Collaborate with stakeholders and other data professionals to support process improvements and recommend system modifications.
- Communicate findings and insights from familiar data, using existing reports, dashboards, and interactive maps to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Understand basic data concepts including data quality and data management.
- Understand basic geospatial data concepts, including time, geography, and other data classification methods, including coordinates, datums, projections, topology, scale, resolution, rasters and vectors.
**Qualifications/Experience**:
- A tertiary qualification or progress towards one in spatial sciences, data science, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative analytical skills is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is desirable.
- Experience with GIS software, particularly Esri’s ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online, is desirable.
- Experience working with programming languages including but not limited to Python and SQL is desirable.
