What is the role?

Digital Surveillance Collection (DSC) develops and operates a wide range of lawful covert surveillance capabilities in support of the AFP’s operational requirements, including telecommunications interception, surveillance devices, collection under computer access warrant, and collection from open sources.

What will you do?

As a Data Scientist or Data Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
Analysis of complex data sets to support investigative processes and strategic decisions;
Development and integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning models;
Collaboration with industry, academia and other government agencies to develop bespoke data analysis solutions to law enforcement challenges;
Mentoring junior team members in data science and data analysis; and

Essential Requirements

Must be an Australian Citizen.
Ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
Extensive ability and experience in complex data analysis.
Qualifications or experience in data science or statistics.
Proven experience tailoring data solutions for complex problems and documenting outcomes.
Desirable Requirements

The following skills and/or experience would be highly regarded:
Experience with software development in R and Python.
Specialised knowledge in analytical areas such as data mining, statistics, social network analysis, telecommunications, network, financial or geospatial analysis.
Experience with Natural Language Processing or Computer Vision
Additional Information

National or International travel may be required.
Applicants will be required to undergo a technical, assessment to determine their suitability in relation to the Technical Specialist Framework.
