**About the role**

In this role you will be engaging with families referred to prevention and early intervention services.

Your daily duties will be diverse but in essence will include:

- Planning and actioning placements for children and young people including scheduling and facilitating initial and ongoing care plan meetings;
- Providing ongoing mentoring of placements with foster carers including the transition of children and young people entering or exiting from placements;
- Providing information and assisting with ongoing development, education and training of foster and kinship carers;
- Working as part of a team to ensure assessments and associated tasks are completed;
- Identifying and progressing individual targeted recruitment activities;
- Promoting the work of foster and kinship carers and assisting with carer recruitment events.

This is an identified position - to perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, it is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the _Anti-Discrimination Act 1991_ that applicants are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Remuneration for this role is $34.04 - $36.50 per hour commensurate with experience.

Excellent interpersonal skills enable you to build strong rapport with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You have genuine empathy and are compassionate toward vulnerable individuals. You are highly approachable, a problem solver who can think quickly on your feet to make the right decisions.

You have comprehensive knowledge of legislative requirements and effortlessly promote a culture of compliance.

To be suitable for this position, your qualifications for the role will consist of:

- Certificate III in Protective Care, Youth or Community Services and/or related experience with a willingness to participate in further training;
- Applied knowledge and understanding of child protection and out-of-home care frameworks including knowledge of The Child Protection Act 1999;
- Demonstrated experience in providing training to adults and a range of supports including positive behaviour management and stress management strategies;
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, together with a sound knowledge and understanding of both culture and societies and the issues which impact upon them in contemporary society;
- Current Driver License;
- Possess or have the ability to acquire a National Police Check, Working with Children (Blue Card) and Licensed Care Service (Child Protection).
