**Job Description**:
The Head of Development will join the Renewable Energy Business Unit of Squadron Energy. The Squadron Energy BU has P&L responsibility for Squadrons renewable energy projects form early development through to fully operational assets.

Based in Sydney or Melbourne and reporting to the Executive General Manager - Renewable Energy, this role will lead the development of the NSW & Victorian Renewable Energy business with initial focus on the identification of new wind, solar and storage opportunities. The role will work closely with Windlab and the internal resource unties to develop a pipeline of opportunities in each of the key States and move rapidly to develop these into full investment opportunities in line with the overall strategic plan.

The initial focus is on the development of the Clarke Creek wind, solar and battery farm. Once fully operational, it will produce more than 1GW of electricity. The first phase is a wind farm and is currently under construction. The second phase is progressing rapidly through approvals and procurement. The total invest will be in excess of A$3billion.

The Head of Development - NSW/VIC will be required to travel to Sydney/ Melbourne and Perth.

Duties include:

- Develop and implement the strategic plan for Squadron Energy’s NSW and Victorian Renewable Energy business.
- Uses their well-developed network to find renewable energy opportunities that complement or enhance existing investments.
- Works closely with the Project Delivery Team and Windlab to ensure projects are meeting the businesses objectives.
- Develops relationships with key stakeholders (including customers, government agencies and infrastructure providers) to help remove any barriers to meeting business objectives.
- Accountable for ensuring timely approvals and stakeholder consultation.
- Works closely with the Infrastructure and Services Resource Unit and Windlab to ensure all systems are in place for assets to work in the National Electricity Market
- Work closely with the CFO to ensure financial reporting is timely and informative
- Thinking outside of the box to find opportunities to optimise the businesses profitability.
- Ensure compliance with legal and statutory responsibilities

**Qualifications**:
You have an Engineering degree in a relevant discipline. An MBA would also be desirable.

You have demonstrated experience in developing a new business with P&L responsibility.

You have experience in working through the development, construction, and operational phase of energy assets.

You can demonstrate a strong understanding of Australia’s energy system and its evolution to renewable energy.

You understand technology and policy trends and its impact on the business.

You have extensive commercial experience in the energy sector.

You can maintain a broad network of contacts through the renewable industry’s business segments of generation, networks, construction, asset management, regulation, and government.

You possess strong management & leadership skills and experience working with multiple disciplines.

You can demonstrate good financial acumen and ability to comfortably describe financial results.

You’re solution focused with the ability to work in a fast-paced role.
