Brisbane Powerhouse is a vibrant arts and cultural hub, home to an exciting year-round program of live performances, festivals, and events. Our Front of House (FOH) team is key in delivering a safe, inclusive, and memorable experience for all patrons. We are seeking an Assistant Front of House Manager to join our Precinct team.
**The Role**:
The Assistant Front of House Manager supports the daily operations of the FOH team and ensures the smooth delivery of services across performances and public activity. This supervisory role involves leading FOH staff on shift, coordinating casual Ushers and Volunteers, and acting as the senior FOH contact in the absence of the FOH Manager. The role also contributes to team culture, safety procedures, rostering, and service delivery during festivals and busy programming periods.
**Key Responsibilities**:
Support venue operations during shows, events, and opening hours, including theatres, foyers, and public spaces.
Supervise Ushers and Front Desk Attendants, ensuring teams are briefed, supported, and positioned effectively.
Act as the senior FOH contact when rostered, managing patron issues, ticketing concerns, and service disruptions.
Assist with emergency procedures and crowd safety, including evacuations if required.
Contribute to recruiting, onboarding, and training new FOH staff and volunteers.
Support the development of rosters and timesheet management during peak activity.
Help prepare operational documents, including rosters, signage plans, briefing notes, and event handbooks.
Complete incident reports and contribute to post-show and post-festival evaluations.
Provide front desk support including ticketing, lost property, radio distribution, and general patron enquiries.
Coordinate resources such as swipe cards, radios, and uniforms during events and festivals.
**About You**:
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in arts venues, customer service, or event environments in a supervisory capacity.
- A calm and solutions-focused approach in fast-paced or high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead a diverse team.
- A solid understanding of safety and emergency procedures in public venues.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as part of a rotating roster.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and basic ticketing or rostering systems.
- First Aid & CPR certification and an RSA certificate (or willingness to obtain).
