This role could be for you

Hudson is assisting a well-regarded national peak body in seeking to appoint a qualified Policy Officer to work closely with the policy team under the direction of the CEO.

You will be working to help the organisation to achieve its mission and fulfil its obligations under its funding agreement with the Australian Government Department of Health by developing policy related documents that inform national policy and support people, collaborating with member organisations and other stakeholders.
- To achieve this goal, you will:_
- Research and develop policy responses to current and emerging issues
- Development of policy papers, submissions and position statements.
- Regular review of outward communications regarding the organisations policies to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Develop plain English summaries of key papers and research
- Prepare project reports as required.
- Other duties as instructed by the CEO.
- Experience in policy development including the ability to synthesise and simplify complex ideas and information
- Strong written skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality written material tailored to different audiences and ranging in content and complexity
- High level knowledge, skills and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Sound communication and relationship management skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work within a team to meet deadlines and ensure work is delivered against objectives.

Qualifications - Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent professional work experience in the not-for-profit community sector and/or health promotion is ideal.
