This low-key community-based advocacy has been effectively empowering older people, individuals with disabilities, their families and carers for decades. Stable and well-funded, it provides the advocacy, information, education and support they need to make better decisions across many aspects of their lives.

Since the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, the need for advocacy and support has grown exponentially with the corresponding need to increase the number and type of programs it provides to the Queensland community. To put it plainly, the organization is growing in all directions.

**_So, this is a multi-faceted position that will resonate with an HR generalist, who is happy to ‘roll up the sleeves’ and pitch in whenever and wherever needed. _**

To be immediately effective, you’ll bring experience gained in another nonprofit, peak body or education setting, where you’ve gained solid experience in recruitment and selection, worker clearance and induction, WHS, governance and compliance, health and safety legislation and (ideally) payroll.

As you’ll appreciate - having been active across a busy HR position for the past few years - there is much more detail, scope and substance to this unique, advocacy-based role. But, so long as you know what you’re about right across the HR discipline, you’ll very quickly pick up on the way things are done in this highly regarded community-based advocacy.

To be considered for what is sure to be an eagerly contested position, you need to be a hands-on team player with a warm and approachable demeanor, lots of natural curiosity and a driving need to know ‘what and why’. Someone who genuinely enjoys interacting with other people: an active listener and conversationalist, poised and socially comfortable, who finds it very easy to strike rapport and build relationships with diverse people at all levels.

As a warm and responsive HR professional, with an affinity for the aged and disadvantaged, this is a role you will thrive in. You’re confident you can meet the requirements and standards outlined above. And the idea of WfH two days a week and spending the rest of your time in a workplace where employees are valued for their individuality really appeals.
