**About the role**

Science and Insights is a large Division which delivers an ambitious portfolio of projects and programs, including air and climate science, bushfire and conservation science, water science, environmental forensics, remote sensing and imagery, and engagement with research partners. Our staff work across the state, on all land tenures, delivering on NSW Government priorities for the natural and built environment. We work in partnership with state and local governments, communities and other research institutions. Our evidence and expertise are sought after in response to natural disasters, environmental pollution incidents, legislative inquiries and reviews, and environmental policy development and program delivery.

The Division’s Executive Support & Divisional Services (ESDS) team provides support to the Executive Director S&I and division level coordination and functions. We are an essential service, providing staff with the tools and support to deliver on business requirements, corporate and legislative obligations, ministerial priorities, programs and projects. This role leads the team and delivers on Division wide organisational, administrative and reform priorities and obligations.

**About You**

You bring an established background in leadership and project delivery with a strong familiarity with the Machinery of Government.

Key knowledge and experience:

- Developing and maintaining a detailed understanding of the work and needs of a large Government Division and its branches.
- Manage the provision of consistent administrative services to geographically dispersed staff with differing skills, requirements and expectations.
- Managing the provision of high-quality executive and divisional operational services in an environment of constantly changing policies, procedures, delegations, structures and technologies.

**Essential requirements**:

- Understanding of Machinery of Government best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership position overseeing a complex delivery portfolio with multiple staff.
- Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in leading and delivering executive and operational support including challenging business and performance improvement programs, financial management, and change initiatives.
- Experience and understanding of the workings and complexities of environmental, conservation and cultural heritage issues and management, with a particular interest in science.
