**Who is the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator?**

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for
regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the
compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and
territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia.

Position Description | National Operations Coordinator

**Environment**

Through leadership and influence, the NHVR administers a national system that delivers consistent and streamlined
regulatory services and administration to the Australian heavy vehicle road transport sector, reducing regulatory burden
whilst enabling greater safety and productivity.

Within the NHVR the Operations Division ensures the continued and improved effectiveness of operational processes
and transactions for customers and service users of the NHVR. The division is accountable for operational safety and
compliance functions across NHVR.***

**Primary Objectives**

Manage and lead the National Operations team to support the co-ordination of planning and delivery of national
operations across the NHVR, jurisdictional partners, policing and other state and federal agencies.

Co-ordinate the development and implementation of national operations including proactive and reactive regulatory
plans, activities and evaluations including accompanying documentation to successfully deliver effective and efficient
national operations.

Facilitate a collaborative and consultative team to support the national working groups in planning and delivery of
national operations to a high standard and within designated timeframes.

Support the planning, delivery and evaluation of jurisdictional and local operations across NHVR jurisdictions.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities**

Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of operational staff in a risk based/intelligence led operational environment to

effectively deliver a national operations calendar.
- Support the NHVR operational leadership team and broader business units to facilitate nationally effective and

efficient regulatory responses to emerging issues.
- Lead and support cultural development programs to build a supportive and resilient team culture aligned to

corporate goals and objectives.
- Identify and support development of the National Operations team to meet and exceed deliverable

expectations.
Planning and Logistics
- Lead and manage information collation to develop detailed strategic and tactical regulatory plans to facilitate

the National Operations Planning Group and the delivery of the national calendar.
- Work across agencies and business units to co-ordinate deployment of resources on a national basis.
- Co-ordinate the joint execution of on/off road regulatory operations by jurisdictions, police, agencies and the

NHVR to ensure operational delivery in a timely manner within a dynamic regulatory environment.
- Co-ordinate the development and delivery of a range of documents on complex regulatory operations including

strategic deployment, detailed evaluation reports, briefings (both written and verbal), procedural
documentation and correspondence.
