About us
The Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination group is responsible for Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination is responsible for driving strategic public policy and governance outcomes, and legislative advice and reform across police, victims, racing policy areas as well as overseeing the ministerial services and coordination, stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental strategy for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (department).
This group is also responsible for the Family Violence and Mental Health Branch, which coordinates family violence and mental health reform policy, including the implementation of justice-related recommendations of the Royal Commission into Family Violence, and the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.

About the role
The Deputy Secretary, Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination will lead key policy programs such as the Redress and Restorative Engagement Scheme, community crime prevention advice and programs, efforts to counter violent extremism, road safety and service delivery reform including public intoxication. The role is also responsible for managing the department's relationship with the Office of the Commissioner for Racing Victoria.
The Deputy Secretary, Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination is responsible for the strategic leadership of the group including people leadership, stakeholder relationship management and thought leadership. This senior leadership role forms part of the Board of Management for the department.

About you
- A significant record of achievement in leadership including strategic planning and policy development and compliance with statutory requirements
- Extensive experience as a senior executive in the development, implementation and ongoing management of reform agendas, for example in the delivery of policy reform, legislative change or service outcomes
- Strategic understanding of and ability to keep abreast of emerging issues and risks that may impact the department's programs and service delivery
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence and provide advice at ministerial and senior executive levels
- Demonstrated high order conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills.
