**About the role**:
Reporting to the Secretary, the Deputy Secretary, Finance and Support is the department's senior executive role charged with leading and directing finance and support services strategy and delivery - with a particular focus on continuous improvement in the department's central functions in support of the health sector and other department divisions. The Deputy Secretary is a member of the department's Executive Board, supporting the Secretary and Ministers to implement government policy and deliver the department's health services.

The Deputy Secretary, Finance and Support has strategic, operational, and improvement responsibilities. The role will initiate, lead, and drive a renewed focus on financial surety and oversight - leading rigorous analysis and providing robust, accurate and timely advice to inform the department and entire health sector's operations. The role also oversees business processes and process improvement, particularly transactional service delivery, to improve efficiency and customer service. The role is strategic in nature, encompassing thought leadership and best practice to guide and support the department's purposeful capacity and capability building, workforce culture, and enhanced performance in a dynamic environment.

**About you**:

- Lead the delivery and performance of efficient, effective, and high-quality financial and corporate support services that meet user expectations.
- Develop and implement an improvement plan for efficient, effective customer-focused finance and support services - with a particular focus on transactional services that support the department's broader functions.
- Be actively involved in and influence all material business decisions to ensure immediate and longer-term implications, opportunities and risks are fully considered and aligned with the department's Strategic Plan.
- Provide authoritative and strategic advice to Ministers, the Secretary, and department leaders on delivery of key reform initiatives and departmental budgets and forecasts.
- As a member of the Executive Board, support the Secretary and provide high-level advice on operational, policy, strategic and corporate matters to ensure the effective delivery of the department's services.
- Identify and investigate complex issues and critical risks and develop mitigation strategies by reviewing and analysing impacts on the health sector and considering of legislation, policy, service standards and regulation to review or develop new guidelines.
- Lead departmental strategic thinking and oversee critical change management initiatives and integrated approaches that enhance delivery of department and state-wide priorities, making judgements and managing complex risk in the context of uncertainty and innovation.
- Develop the strategic agenda and plan (3-to-5-year focus) for the division to ensure the translation of government priorities and reform objectives into the department's strategic planning.
