- **Salary: Band 7 - $106,557.18 to $118,949.67 plus Superannuation**

**The opportunity**

The Team Leader Rates plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of Council’s rating functions, including receipting, collections, and system management. This position provides expert advice and prepares key reports for senior finance leaders and external bodies, while also leading a dedicated team to deliver exceptional customer service. With a strong focus on system integration, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement, the role combines strategic oversight with hands-on leadership to support the Council’s financial operations and community engagement.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Support the integration of a new rating system with Council platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Provide expert guidance and oversee the rating function, ensuring accurate receipting, collections, and property data management.
- Prepare and coordinate essential rating reports for senior finance leaders and external bodies, including budget modelling and compliance returns.
- Lead and mentor the Rates team to deliver responsive, efficient, and customer focused service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage rate debt recovery processes and ensure best practice and legislative compliance across all rating services.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree or diploma, supported by several years of experience, or equivalent formal/informal education with extensive practical expertise.
- Strong understanding of rating principles and relevant legislation, including the Local Government Act and Valuation of Land Act.
- Proven ability to deliver strategic financial analysis and advice across rating, reporting, and planning functions.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
