About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a great opportunity for a Training Lead - Maritime, to join our Maritime Australia business on the Hunter Class Frigate Program based at either Osborne, Adelaide or Melbourne CBD location. This key technical training position will report to the Training Manager, and will be offered on a permanent full time basis.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, including working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.

BAE Systems Maritime Australia (formerly known as ASC Shipbuilding), has been contracted to design and deliver the world’s most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy. The Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian Defence supply chain over the life of the program.

Key responsibilities include:

- Provide leadership to the training team who analyse, design and develop training requirements for Navy personnel
- Provide leadership to the training team who develop and assure the recommended crewing solution for the Hunter Class Frigate.
- Provide leadership to the training team, coach and develop personnel, ensuring services provided meet business and customer objectives
- Provide support to the ILS Maintenance Requirements Determination (MRD) team in undertaking Operating Task Analysis and the development of evolutions matrix activities
- Support the identification and documentation of training equipment requirements to support the training of Navy personnel and teams
- Oversee the assessment for the feasibility of the delivery of training for whole of ship activities, including the training design curriculum to support training for whole of ship activities
- Lead the training team in the development of training and assessment materials for whole of ship related activities and support the customer’s assessment of those training activities
- Establish effective consultation and communication mechanisms with customers, internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that stakeholders are fully engaged, establishing good relationships
- Drive culture of training design and training development best practice, efficiency and continuous improvement

About YOU
- Defence Maritime experience and experience operating equipment on naval ships
- People leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage a team and provide effective leadership, direction and motivation
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, good computer skills and proficiency with using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Whilst not essential, technical training experience or a relevant training qualification, will be highly regarded
