There are multiple current and anticipated positions in the Freight Policy Team and Heavy Vehicle policy teams. We are looking for people who can think strategically, who like to solve problems and work with a wide range of stakeholders and who want to make a difference.

There are multiple current and anticipated positions in the Branch.

The branch is supportive of flexible work arrangements.

The positions provide the opportunity to build policy development skills in collaborative and supportive teams.

**What will you do?**

We do a wide variety of day-to-day work—developing policy options, leading Commonwealth-State negotiations, developing Australia’s position for international fora and agreements, providing expert advice on legislation, managing grant programs, overseeing innovative automation and leading reforms to how freight is regulated and how infrastructure is funded.

Daily tasks include:

- Drafting briefing material for the minister and senior executive in the department.
- Liaising the jurisdictions and industry stakeholders to understand key issues and ensure the team’s work supports the current and emerging needs of industry.
- Working with other areas of the department on cross-cutting priorities.
- Drafting responses to ministerial correspondence.
- Ensuring our policy advice is informed by data.
- Providing secretariat support working groups and advisory panels.
- Representing the team in meetings.
