- A tertiary qualification in an Allied Health field (social work/youth work/mental health/psychology/ other) is mandatory.
- 1. Demonstrated high level knowledge of relevant policy context, evidence based approaches, programs and research relating to child and adolescent health and development.

2. A demonstrated capacity to effectively implement and manage intervention strategies that address advanced and complex cases including critical incidents and those involving cross-profession or agency collaboration.

3. Demonstrated high level organisational, communication and inter-personal skills including the ability to work effectively with children and young people, parents/carers and teachers as well as professionals in the education and health systems.

4. Demonstrated capacity to successfully develop, lead and manage programs in a blended learning environment that meet the identified needs of vulnerable students and parents/ carers.

5. A demonstrated capacity to deliver professional learning to teachers and a commitment to ongoing professional learning in order to enhance student wellbeing in a school setting.

**Role**:

- Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.
- Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.
- An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- The Engagement Coordinator will work with the Engagement Team to provide:
Staff Consultation
- Provide support, advice and guidance to Learning Advisors who present with concerns about student disengagement.
- Meet with relevant staff, student and parents/carers to identify priority engagement needs, develop Engagement Plans and provide support, advocacy, referral and information as required.
- Assist in the provision of appropriate professional learning and/or organisation of external consultants to meet staff needs in the area of student engagement.
- Liaise with Careers/Pathway to support decisions around transitions.
- Liaise with external agencies, as appropriate, for assessment and Engagement Plan development and discussions.

Staged Response
- Respond to disengaged student referrals by providing assessment and individual case work support to students and families
- Documentation of Staged Response tracking and ongoing data collection for engagement
- Chair Engagement Plan meetings as a part of the Amber Staged response
- Support Learning Advisors to conduct SLAMs, as required
- Assist in the delivery of professional development specifically on Staged Response process
- Maintain comprehensive and confidential data collection and records related to Engagement Plans

Whole School Engagement Guidance
- Contribute to Engagement Team planning and review of student engagement data and evidence to inform whole school engagement program responses.
- Participate in the planning and delivery of whole school Engagement initiatives consistent with the AIP.
- Work in collaboration with the Leading Teachers: Engagement and Parent and Community Partnerships to explore and create meaningful opportunities for students and families to connect and celebrate to build school connectedness and collegiality.

Colleagues/ Teams:

- The Engagement Coordinator will be an integral member of the Engagement Team.
- The Engagement Coordinator will work in close collaboration with Leading Teachers Engagement, Student Engagement team to deliver coordinated responses to students.

Reporting/Accountability:

- The Engagement Coordinator will develop a Performance & Development Plan to ensure accountability. They will report directly to the Leading Teachers: Student Engagement, and the Principal Class team.
