**The opportunity**

We are looking for a Research Projects Officer to join the Vector Borne Pathogens team within the Health and Biosecurity Research Unit at CSIRO.

In this hands-on role, and with guidance from your Team Leader, you’ll support daily operations of the Insectary and contribute to vital experimental work involving arthropod breeding, infection and dissection procedures, and molecular and cell culture techniques.

Based at the high-containment (PC3) laboratories of the Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP), you’ll play a key role in advancing research that protects Australia’s health and biosecurity.

**Your high-level duties will include**:

- Breeding mosquitoes and/or other arthropods for experimentation.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records as per regulations (e.g. DAFF, OGTR and CSIRO).
- Performing routine maintenance of the Insectary, ensuring it is clean, organised and well stocked, and equipment is maintained and safe for daily operations.
- Conducting straightforward experiments and adapting processes or techniques to meet evolving research needs with mínimal supervision.

**Salary**: AU$73,567 - AU$93,630 per annum, plus 15.4% superannuation

- A relevant diploma/bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience in laboratory techniques/technology.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and record keeping skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on parallel tasks.Demonstrated ability to undertake manual handling and operate equipment safely in accordance with Health and Safety Procedures.

To be appointed this role, you must be able to meet ACDP’s security assessment and microbiological security requirements.
