**About the role**
As the Research and Insights Officer, reporting to the Head of Performance & Research, you will be responsible for conducting all types of research - from desktop research of third-party data and identifying market trends, to supporting innovative and unique cross-functional projects, involving reporting, inspecting, cleansing, transforming, and modelling large data sets. You will be responsible for capturing data and generating insights that allow for the measurement of the organisation’s strategic goals, KPI's and SLAs. You will generate and leverage insightful analysis for various departments including customer and community data, operations, service delivery, compliance and quality assurance data, as well as data from local and international communities. You will coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders and SMEs to help drive the usability of the City’s data management systems. You will assist with undertaking research activities to provide evidence to support business case processes and to help guide decision making to drive progress towards meeting our strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

- Using data from the Performance and Reporting team, develop meaningful insights to interpret business needs and identify solutions to performance improvement gaps within the portfolio.
- Integrate, organise, and maintain organisation-wide data visualisations for better information consumption and to improve real-time performance tracking and projections.
- Perform organisation-wide quantitative and qualitative research analysis for opportunity exploration and innovative business solutions to support various SC&P activities.
- Examine market trends and maintain a database of information available to the business to help make informed decisions and accurate business projections.
- Using data analysis tools, scenario modelling and quantitative financial analysis, manage activities in the portfolio.
- Support innovative projects, by assisting in experimentations and presenting insights from test cases for learning.
- Develop and present insightful reports that are complete, accurate and in the best interests of the City, its community, and customers.
- Partner with other areas of the organisation that may require data, research or insights to help guide and inform decision

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant tertiary degree in market research and insights, business, project management, engagement, communications, commerce or related disciplines and extensive experience in a similar position.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, market research or performance analysis and confidence in using a range of analytical processes and procedures.
- Well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated in comparable projects or organisations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of research methods, tools, processes, and software to undertake projects.
- Demonstrated experience in data analysis, interpretation and preparation of reports and dashboards.
- Well-developed knowledge of MS Office tools and strong MS Excel skills.
- Ability to coordinate with various internal stakeholder groups in performance-focused decision making.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and contribute to a positive team environment.
- High-level written, verbal and presentation skills - ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.
