Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) is the home of unconventional. At MCEC we do things a little differently. We bring fresh ideas and imagination to every event. We happily turn concepts on their head to make each experience momentous.
We welcome events of all shapes and sizes, from board meetings and small celebrations through to conventions, gala dinners, exhibitions, and concerts. Our doors are open for events and moments that connect us - in person, virtual or hybrid, and everything in between.
Our city is our inspiration, located in the vibrant South Wharf precinct, just a stroll along the Yarra River. Melbourne is on show at MCEC - in the architecture and design, food and hospitality, location and views.
**The role**
Are you an organised problem solver who can confidently interact with a wide range of customers? Are you looking for a diverse and impactful role where no one day is the same? If this sounds like you, our Event Planner role could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
Along with our team of Event Planners, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the planning of events are of the highest standards. You’ll be the key point of contact for our customers, providing an exceptional experience and adopting a solutions-based approach in the planning of their events. This is an autonomous role with variety and involves lots of interaction with other departments across MCEC.
**What you’re here to do**
- Partner with customers through the seamless, coordinated, timely communication of event information and venue requirements
- Respond promptly to customer requests and feedback
- Conduct site inspections, pre-conference meetings and event debriefs
- Prepare event orders, floor plans and other written information in detail as required for each allocated event
- Brief the allocated Delivery Managers for each event

You're renowned for your ability to work to tight deadlines and leave nothing to chance. You have demonstrated your resilience in managing the unexpected, dealing with complexity and responding to change whilst ensuring the customer retains their confidence that their event is going to run to plan.
We’re also looking for:
- The ability to effectively and collaboratively engage with stakeholders to ensure everyone is on the same page, understands the customer's requirements and knows the role they will play in delivering a great event
- Demonstrated experience in planning multi-faceted events including exhibitions, shows and conferences, across varying sizes and scope and venues
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate the planning of multiple events concurrently
- An ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Someone who is confident, well-presented, approachable, and able to represent MCEC in a professional manner
