Key accountabilities
- Develop and implement a standard set of project management practices, processes and templates across the Program to ensure consistency and efficiencies to reduce project related risk and costs
- Manage collection, consolidation and analysis of program and project data to support effective decision making
- Work with Sponsors, programs and projects to implement an appropriate, tailored governance framework, effective risk and issue management and create strategies for planning, monitoring and delivery of projects
- Ensure governance and reporting across all aspects of the PMO is in place, visible and reported in an accurate and timely manner to stakeholders, leadership and executive leadership team (including Program Board, Steering Committee)
- Implement, monitor and report on compliance with established standards to ensure the organisation adheres to agreed policies and standards
- Develop and deliver services and support project and program management capability (including resource management, risks and issues management, schedule & dependency management, financial and benefits management, document management, commercials and vendor management) to reduce project related risk
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to ensure strong collaboration, engagement and/or co-delivery in pursuit of strategic and operational outcomes.
- Motivate and inspire staff and stakeholders using an inclusive leadership style.
- Setting work priorities within agreed parameters and approved work and project plans, organising and managing own workload and allocation of tasks to direct reports.
- Providing expertise and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, consulting on and enlisting commitment to specific strategies.
- Deciding the content of reports, submissions, policies, correspondence, and briefs, which are prepared in final form and are expected to require only mínimal input from the Director

Ideal knowledge & experience sought
- Demonstrated experience leading a small to medium PMO including developing and/implementing a structured project management framework, managing governance and reporting functions and developing best practice tools and templates.
- Proven experience managing a PMO in a complex multi-stream IT project delivery environment
- Attention to detail and quality driven
- Ability to achieve and exceed deadlines (e.g. reporting)
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Self-drive, self-discipline, and ability to motivate others
- Excellent time management and ability to multi-task
- Pragmatism, reasoning, and problem solving
- Experience of SAP implementation projects will be highly advantageous
- Technical project management and continuous improvement skills to analyse process flows and to use improvements such as technology to reduce costs.
- Advanced MS Project skills
- Strong financial acumen
- Previous experience successfully delivering projects and outcomes within NSW Government will be highly regarded
