**The Role**
- Plan and conduct Work Health Safety and Environmental (WHSE) assurance activities in Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD) business units, Regional Maintenance Centre's and develop required reports.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to stakeholders to conduct in-contract audits on industry partners.
- Provide advice, collaborate and communicate with stakeholders on complex to very complex and sensitive WHS issues.
- Build productive working relationships with stakeholders to inform decision-making and ensure alignment with broader Defence objectives.
- Assess and evaluate WHS strategy, initiatives, projects, policy and procedures.
- Develop and maintain the currency of audit tools and action registers to maintain compliance.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and enhance workplace safety.
- Prepare briefs and preparation of assurance data as required.

**About our Team**
The Maritime Work Health Safety and Environment team is part of the Maritime Sustainment Division and works across a range of specialisations including work health and safety, assurance, and environment.

Maritime Work Health Safety and Environment is accountable for developing and sustaining Maritime Sustainment Division’s Safety and Environment Management Systems, and assuring Maritime Sustainment Division senior leadership that these systems are effectively implemented and maintained.

Maritime WHSE Directorate is led by an EL 2 and is part of the Maritime Support Branch. The Assurance Management team is led by an EL 1, with support from two APS 6.

They must exhibit a desire to be innovative and adaptive. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and verbal communication skills will be required to regularly liaise and coordinate with a broad range of Commonwealth and Industry stakeholders.

Highly developed written communication skills will be required to review and prepare WHS documentation. We are looking for someone with initiative, strong organisational skills and the ability to respond appropriately to pressures and changing priorities across multiple functional areas.
