Position Information
Canterbury Public School has a current enrolment of 375. The school celebrates diversity and inclusion and has 62% of students from a non-English speaking background and 4% of students who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. There are currently 14 mainstream classes and a support unit comprised of five classes for students with a moderate intellectual disability and/or autism.
With a philosophy and motto of Participation, Equity and Excellence, Canterbury provides a curriculum that caters for all students across the wide spectrum of learning including a wealth of extracurricular opportunities as well. The school prides itself on being small enough to know, value and care for every student yet large enough to provide a full range of quality learning and wellbeing programs.

For the last three years the strategic focus has been on building the capacity of all teaching staff in mathematics education K-6 grounded in research and best practice. Selection Criteria
**In addition to the general selection criteria**:
1. Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated leadership in quality teaching and learning to differentiate for students with autism, moderate intellectual disability and complex communication needs impacting behaviour so that all students can reach their potential
2. Demonstrated capacity to lead a support unit while effectively managing the dual roles of Assistant Principal and exemplary classroom teacher with the proven ability to develop relationships, work collaboratively and build staff capacity to ensure a cohesive, effective team to enhance student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
3. Outstanding evidence of high impact collaboration with parents and carers, learning and support teams, School Learning Support Officers, health providers and external stakeholders, and understanding families from diverse backgrounds.
4. Demonstrated capacity to foster a school-wide culture and practice of inclusion and equity, and drive continuous improvement as part of a dynamic leadership team.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
