**Position Information**:
Cabramatta Public School is a dynamic primary school located in south western Sydney in the Fairfield local government area. The school has a strong focus on academic achievement in a community that highly values learning and has high expectations for the academic and social success of its 470 students made up of 19 mainstream and 3 Special Education classes.

The school community is proud of its cultural diversity which is reflected in all aspects of school organisation, planning and programming. 93% of students come from language backgrounds other than English with a high proportion from South East Asian countries. Students are supported by strong teaching programs including English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D); Community Languages for Vietnamese, Khmer and Chinese speaking students to maintain their first language to access the curriculum

The school has a strong focus on academic excellence together with a holistic approach for developing the whole child. Professional learning for all staff is a priority supported by an experienced executive that lead learning. Our executive is made up of a Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principals and two Assistant Principal, Curriculum and Instruction roles. The executive lead our expert teachers in evidence-based teaching and learning programs.

The school has three Support Unit classes including 1X IM and 2X I.O/Au. The Assistant Principal, Special Education role at Cabramatta PS will be an on class role, leading the Support Unit and supporting curriculum expertise across the school through instructional leadership.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria; Approval to teach special education and/or experience in leading quality teaching and learning for students with Autism, Intellectual Disability and who may also present with additional needs such as sensory, challenging behaviour and communication.

2. Ability to support colleagues through quality interpersonal skills, empathy and demonstrated skills in building trusting relationships within a support unit team.

3. Demonstrated capacity and experience in leading teachers to develop and implement differentiated learning programs, including Personalised Learning and Support plans, designed to improve outcomes for all students K-6, with additional learning and support needs.

4. High level organisational and management skills to balance classroom teaching with the complex administration demands of the Assistant Principal role, in line with Department of Education policies and procedures.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
