**Position Information**:
Our school, located on Dharug land, currently serves a student population of 500, 7% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 20% are from an EAL/D background. Currently, the school comprises of 20 mainstream classes and 3 support classes including, 2 Mult categorical classes, and 1 autism class. The staff are dedicated professionals who are committed to providing high quality, engaging literacy and numeracy programs. The school provides a variety of successful programs to improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes. The school actively implements Positive Behaviour for Learning and is promoting resilience. Glenmore Park is strongly supported by the parents/carers and community in general.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach special education and/or experience in leading quality teaching and learning for students with Autism and/or Intellectual Disability who may also present with additional needs including sensory, physical, communication and challenging behaviour.
Evidence of a highly visible, approachable and collaborative leader with a capacity to build and maintain positive, inclusive, trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff, external agencies and the wider community.
Ability to support colleagues to plan and implement learning and teaching programs using contemporary knowledge and understanding of curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements.
High-level organisational and management skills to balance classroom teaching with the complex administration demands of the Assistant Principal role, in line with Department of Education policies and procedures.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
