We are the largest cancer charity in NSW and our point of difference is that we work across every area of every cancer, from research right through to support. **About the team** The Cancer Prevention and Advocacy division leads the organisation's work in health promotion and cancer prevention helping Australians make well informed choices to decrease their risk of cancer; and to create a supportive environment where healthy choices are easier choices. The Policy & Advocacy Unit brings together cancer control evidence, government relations and community, to influence changes to public policy and practices that will improve cancer outcomes. **About the role** The Cancer Policy Analyst plays a key role in ensuring Cancer Council NSW's public policy and advocacy agenda is evidence-based, strategic and impactful. Reporting to the Cancer Policy Lead, this role is responsible for the following. **Key Accountabilities**: - Develop evidence-based policy positions on key issues faced by people living with cancer. - Contribute to research, analysis and translation of health policy and evidence to ensure that CCNSW's public policy and advocacy agenda is evidence-based, strategic and outcome-focused. - Monitor and analyse emerging developments, debates and evidence to identify opportunities and need for public policy changes to address cancer control issues. - Work closely with colleagues in the Daffodil Centre to translate research and evidence into policy change. - Conduct literature searches and review data insights to inform CCNSW position on key public policy issues. - Provide advice and analysis of health policy, and the translation and communication of health-system performance data to internal stakeholders, as well as community advocates. - Support the design, commissioning and/or management of research projects to underpin policy positions and advocacy campaigns. - Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, and provide support to working groups and community advocacy networks - Co-ordinate relevant programs of workshops, seminars and new media to develop shared positions and priorities amongst stakeholders on matters of public policy. - Prepare briefings, presentations, submissions and reports for a range of internal and external audiences - Contribute to the ongoing maturity of evidence-based policies and programs in CCNSW for cancer control in NSW. **About You** Essential: - Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as public health, science or public policy. - Sound research, critical appraisal and analytical skills, applied to the assessment and translation of evidence. - Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated experience in writing concise, evidence-based and persuasive products for publication. - Experience in preparation of information for a variety of audiences i.e. web, government, community or committees. - Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders - A self-starter with demonstrated initiative, ability to meet tight deadlines, work autonomously, identify and resolve problems and handle competing demands.
