**Your new role**:
As the Assistant Director, your contribution will be pivotal in supporting the director in shaping the future work program of the section and contributing to the strategic direction of the stream. Your wide-ranging responsibilities will encompass, but are not restricted to:

- Providing expert counsel on governance, administration, and resource management matters, ensuring work practices align with existing policies and procedures at a high level
- Designing and implementing an internal verification framework, overseeing verification activities to guarantee divisional compliance with established policies, procedures, and legislation
- Managing the continuous enhancement of the division's suite of governance tools and documentation, while providing valuable assistance and support in the development of instructional materials
- Supporting divisional stakeholders by offering guidance in the development of processes and work instructions to ensure consistent, evidence-based, and lawful decision-making
- Leveraging networks and extensive knowledge to navigate departmental administrative and governance processes, playing a key role in their establishment within the division

**What you'll need to succeed**:

- Comprehensive understanding or prior exposure to the governance frameworks, operations, processes, and systems of the Commonwealth Government, or a proven capability to swiftly acquire such knowledge.
- Extensive experience providing informed advice on complex matters, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate resolutions
- Proficiency in the key principles of good governance and best practices, driving operational efficiency and informing sound business decisions
- Proven ability to effectively supervise and manage staff, leading a high-performing team to deliver exceptional work within established timelines
- Experience working in or leading a geographically dispersed and/or regional team, demonstrating adaptability and successful coordination
- Aptitude for effectively managing change, navigating risks and uncertainties, and making evidence-based decisions
