EL1 Assistant Director | Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations

Randstad is seeking a proactive and skilled EL1 Assistant Director to join the Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations team in a Federal Government Department. In this critical role, you will provide coordination and advisory services related to stakeholder engagement and government relations, playing a leadership role in supporting the Departments Chair, Board, and CEO's external relationships. This short-term contract is for approximately 14-18 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic advice to senior stakeholders and manage government relations initiatives.
  • Support the Chair, Board, and CEO in their external relationships, including Ministers and senior industry stakeholders.
  • Lead direct engagement with senior executives and collaborate with teams across the agency.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Ministers, government, market bodies, and industry advocates.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and competing priorities.
Skills & Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in providing strategic advice on stakeholder and government relations, ideally within a Federal Government or State Government setting.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to provide advice through briefings and correspondence.
  • Proven experience in managing senior executive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to be personable and work well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Flexible problem-solving skills and the ability to collate and analyse information to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and/or contributing to the development of communications plans.
