As a TO2 Technical Officer, you will be part of the Threatened Species Operations Unit, focused on research and monitoring of threatened species. The team is responsible for providing scientific advice for threatened species planning and management, monitoring programs for priority threatened species, undertaking priority research to inform species and threat management, identification of research gaps, fostering and growing partnerships with research institutions, sharing knowledge (through publications, reports, media, conferences), delivering training and data management and access.
This position requires specialist skills in identification, assessment and data recording of native wildlife, specifically threatened species. The activities undertaken in the role can be physically demanding and include survey and monitoring of threatened species in the field, maintenance of field equipment and safety systems, and education and training oversight of volunteers. Periods of office work are also required to compile reports and prepare field documentation. Proven experience working collaboratively in a small team and proficiency in excel and ArcGIS will be highly regarded.
**To be successful in this position you must have**:

- Demonstrated, or ability to acquire, competency in research and analysis.
- Proven ability to provide technical support and advice to Senior staff, with experience with wildlife survey and monitoring techniques.
- Ability to build relationships, communicate with a range of clients and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities and achieve outcomes within specified timeframes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
- Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of innovation, respect and inclusion.
