**Job Description**:
OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated Group Manager - Environment to lead global group environmental direction and initiatives, while supporting and strengthening operational environmental performance. Your extensive previous multi-site/operations experience and expertise, providing valued oversight of functional, regional and project objectives, will ensure your success in this rewarding and challenging senior corporate office-based appointment.

Reporting to the EVP Sustainability, this is a great opportunity to shape strategic direction and support our global operations in implementing and delivering OceanaGold’s environmental obligations.

Duties and responsibilities:

- Support sites in the delivery of business outcomes in environmental compliance, permit approvals, acquisitions as well as key business planning and stakeholder/regulator engagement and ensure compliance with group standards and policies
- Assist with the development and delivery of the sustainability strategy and OceanaGold’s sustainability value proposition
- Provide leadership to site environmental professionals in ensuring effective identification and mitigation of company material environmental related risks and compile these into the corporate risk register
- Provide strategic and technical advice on environmental matters, compliance issues and incident investigations
- Deliver strategic improvement projects in consultation with operations that will support sustainability and business goals
- Support the continuous improvement of OceanaGold’s Integrated Management System and the Environmental Standards
- Support OceanaGold governance processes by developing and implementing a group environmental assurance and audit program to meet compliance and organisational requirements
- Act as SME providing strategic and operational advice and leadership on emerging environmental matters to OceanaGold executive and senior management teams
- Support and where required, lead due diligence and integration activities linked to pre/feasibility studies, community initiatives, growth, acquisitions and divestments
- Lead the development of the Environmental annual plan and budgeting process including the establishment of objectives and targets to continually improve environmental performance
- Support the development of the annual sustainability report including the collation and assurance of environmental data and reporting on environmental performance
- Maintain current knowledge on environmental requirements in mining and business to understand key trends, challenges, and value areas for OceanaGold
- Engage with external environmental forums and industry working groups in order to understand future global, industry and or regulatory policy that can impact OceanaGold and communicate the impacts of reforms to the business.

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and operational experience
- Collaborative, people-focussed leader with an innovative, problem-solving, outcome driven focus
- Significant direct senior experience in environmental management roles, preferably attained within mining, resources or similar heavy industry
- Experience managing environmental risk at both site and corporate levels
- Demonstrated understanding of industry ESG frameworks and global standards
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally spanning corporate and site levels
- Demonstrated industry working groups and forums experience as well as experience with government organisations (State and Federal) both domestically and overseas
