**Your role**:As the Principal Finance Officer you will**:

- Provide expert investigation analysis and advice in relation to the strategic and operational policy issues that impact on the short, medium and long-term financial sustainability of the department.
- Develop, implement, maintain and review the suite of financial reporting policies, procedures and practices that facilitate and optimise the resource allocation and financial management of the department.

The Principal Finance Officer reports to the Manager, Financial Business Policy, Financial Strategy and Advice, Finance, Procurement and Facilities Division.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Undertake projects and contribute to the deliverables to support the scope and objectives of financial policies and procedures within a large decentralised organisation.
- Take a lead role in liaising with central agencies on financial policy issues that affect the department and assist the team at high level negotiations in a variety of other forums on issues relating to the functional area.
- Encourage an innovative and dynamic environment and effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with project sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure innovative best practice policy and procedures solutions are developed and approved whilst building and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Research, analyse, evaluate and prepare reports, briefing materials and correspondence for submission to senior management.
- Make effective use of individual and team capabilities through delegating effectively and negotiating responsibility for work outcomes.
- Be a team member that fosters a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement for staff.
- Support the Manager to implement continuous improvement processes for the team and in the monitoring of best practice policies and procedures.
