**The Principal Finance Officer Key Responsibilities are**:

- Incorporate your financial and accounting skills to provide analysis, detailed reporting, monitoring and resolution of financial accounting issues to support effective budget management across the division.
- Provide assistance to the Manager, Business Support and Director Operations through the provision of expert advice relating to strategic financial managementincluding providing analysis, detailed reporting relating to governance, workforce and financial management.
- Manage the provision of comprehensive reports for Leaders of the division including budget forecasting, variance reporting, expenditure reconciliations and review of budget expenditure.
- Establish and maintain systems and processes including reconciliations of financial data to ensure corporate systems and reports are accurate, consistent and complete, and adequately supported for audit purposes.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and practices that facilitate and support the Business Support team financial and human resource functions within the division.
- Support the division by ensuring existing procedures and processes satisfy reporting requirements and financial governance.
- Ensure the division's activities meet relevant financial management legislation and Treasury and Departmental guidelines.
- Liaise with Corporate Finance to ensure the group meets all financial requirements and financial issues are raised and addressed.
- Develop and maintain networks with other areas of the department to ensure effective integration, coordination and liaison occur.
- Prepare a range of written materials that support financial management of the division, including developing documentation providing guidelines on financial matters, correspondence, briefing material, budget and finance committee papers and budget submissions.
- Provide advice to staff of all levels on financial and operational issues as well as n relation to preparation of highly sensitive and confidential briefs, memos, submissions and ministerial and executive correspondence.
- As a senior member of the team, undertake tasks allocated by the Manager in a constantly changing work environment to support innovation and efficient delivery.
- Model and exercise leadership to contribute to a positive work culture aligned to the public sector values; and provide coaching / mentoring to less experienced members of the team.
- Where required, manage business processes and provide advice and support to the work unit in relation to operational matters, including human resources and asset management.
