**The role**:
We are looking for an exceptional people-leader to manage the newly transformed Media and Communications team in providing expert media, reputation and complex communications advice and publishing content across digital and print channels.

Leading a small team, this role will be responsible for managing Council’s response to external reputational and media issues. The role will oversee the development and execution of highly complex communications strategies and Council's publications. The role will also lead all communications activities relating to Mayor and Councillors and develop and maintain an approach to stakeholder engagement.

If successful you will help shape our new Communications, Advocacy and Investment Department and will be part of the leadership team.

You will be an experienced people-leader who is passionate about building high performing teams.

You will know how to anticipate issues and manage them through well-planned communications.

You will have extensive knowledge of the local government environment and understand complex issues relating areas such as strategic planning, waste and sustainability, infrastructure, compliance, community safety and more.

You will know how to develop channel management strategies and ensure quality control. You will know how to manage a fast-paced communications functions and oversee the publishing of content across multiple channels in a collaborative environment.

You will have great internal stakeholder management skills and understand how to operate and influence in a political environment.
