**About the Role**:
Working in the BHP Perth office within the Planning and Technical team and reporting to Principal Geotechnical Engineer, the Principal Standards and Governance (Geotechnical) will support Nickel West by providing governance of geotechnical engineering practices to ensure compliance with BHP and legislative requirements to effectively manage fall of ground risk. This role will assist Nickel West operations and site geotechnical engineers by:

- Ensuring compliance with the BHP Our Technical Standards - Geotechnical Standard
- Providing leadership in the identification and management of geotechnical risk through effective governance of risk management processes and practices
- Assisting sites with reviews and updates of site Ground Control Management Plans to ensure compliance to the BHP Our Safety Requirements and the Geotechnical Standard
- Document geotechnical design, operating and monitoring processes
- Manage Geotechnical Review Boards and assist site Geotechnical Engineers with other ground control related audits.
- Develop and maintain geotechnical safety briefs, training packages and induction material
- Participate in and/or lead technical investigations into site fall of ground events

Nickel West has an exciting pipeline of work involving diverse set of geotechnical challenges including deep, high stress underground and large structurally complex open cut mines and deposits. This role will see you positively influence business decisions through maintaining world class geotechnical risk management and will require a focus on delivering value, clear decision-making skills, technical excellence and strong collaboration skills.

**About You**:

- Experience as a Geotechnical Engineer in an operational setting in a range of mining methods and conditions
- Experience in managing a Geotechnical Engineering team
- Excellent understanding of geotechnical risk management processes and controls
