The roleThe Manager Strategic Design is responsible for leading, guiding and managing the conception, interpretation and development of statewide strategic health workforce policy, advice, redesign and reform initiatives in response to Queensland Health priority areas and national reform agendas.
This position is focused on the strategic policy-based environment considering trends across education, models of care, and the challenges of providing appropriate and cost-effective health care across a diversified geography. Key repsonibilites include:

- Lead and manage the Strategic Design team to analyse workforce data and environmental scans to develop high level, medium to long term clinical workforce policy.
- Provide expert advice on clinical workforce policy, including reform responses for health.
- Provide high level advice and support to key stakeholders on the technical and practical aspects of strategic health workforce that is orientated to addressing the workforce demands of the future.
- Prepare complex briefings, reports and other written material to a high standard and co-ordinate and chair meetings as appropriate.
- Contribute to agreed outcomes and manage the performance of the team.

- ability in health workforce policy development including researching workforce trends and visualising possible and probable futures and their implications.
- ability to explore and understand complex problems in a health environment and to work with stakeholders to develop creative solutions to these problems.
- high level of communication, consultation, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- capability in leading and managing individuals and teams in line with quality human and financial resource management practice.
