**About the role**
Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO), as the Manager Business Improvement, you will play a key role in designing and delivering organisation-wide change and business improvement interventions to support and deliver the City’s strategic priorities. You will lead the Business Improvement team and manage a pipeline of project work across the organisation to deliver business improvement activities and build organisational capability in business improvement tools, methodologies, and frameworks to improve the customer and employee experience.
The Business Improvement team will work with staff at all levels of the organisation to map, review and improve organisational business processes and capabilities to support the ongoing design and implementation of the organisation's target operating model.
Key responsibilities include:
- Establish the Business Improvement function, including the design of processes, tools, and methodologies for identifying, designing, and facilitating the business process and capability improvement.
- Manage the organisation’s portfolio of transformation and business as usual business improvement activities with strong stakeholder engagement strategies to actively understand the improvement outcomes required by the business, identifying opportunities and risks.
- Lead and manage improvement initiatives across the organisation to contribute to the design and implementation of strategic programs and projects, and to facilitate continuous improvement activities
- Contribute to the development and management of the organisation’s overall transformation portfolio through the identification and planning of business improvement activities required to deliver desired organisation outcomes.
- Conduct business improvement needs analyses, engage, and coach people leaders to drive and implement successful business improvement activities.
- Lead Business Improvement 'bench’ by recruiting and assigning resources for planned and prioritised projects and identify ways of working with team members allocated to the various programs and projects.
- Design and develop and embed organisation capability in business improvement principles, techniques, tools, systems and methodologies to ensure appropriate business process, workflow, and ways of working mapping and benefit capture across all business improvement projects.
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent level of experience in business process improvement, business management, project management or related disciplines.
Essential Experience:
- Relevant business improvement certification in a methodology such as Lean/Six Sigma Trained (minimum Greenbelt) or demonstrated relevant experience
- Design Thinking/Human Centered Design trained to an Advanced level or demonstrated relevant experience
- Extensive experience in leading and measuring the effectiveness of systemic business improvement programs using diverse and customized methodologies in medium to large organisations.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging staff in business process improvement tools & methodologies to deliver specialist outcomes.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to use relevant software systems.
- Strong ability in developing and facilitating end to end process maps
- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical problem-solving skills within comparable organisations or change and business improvement projects.
