Adelaide CBD, Australia City of Adelaide Full time

**Parking Officer**
**-**
**(**
**2300362**
**)**
- A great office unlike any other
- A job as dependable as you
- 3x Permanent, Full-time Opportunities available

**About the Opportunity**
As part of the Regulatory Services Program the Parking & Information Officer, On Street Parking Operations will provide high quality, productive, cost effective and customer orientated parking and traffic enforcement by promoting and maximising kerbside turnover.

You will deliver customer focused services as an Ambassador of the City of Adelaide and provide support to the Work Group Leader, On Street Parking Operations to ensure efficient and effective service and project delivery.

Some of the day-to-day things you may see yourself doing include:

- Investigating and reporting general offences under the Local Government Act and By-Laws and other relevant legislation.
- Recording evidence to substantiate Expiation Notices in Court and when required attend Court to give evidence in respect of offences.
- Providing general information including tourist information, street directions, parking advice and general City event information to members of the public.
- Providing information to other internal departments regarding public realm issues needing attention (eg: traffic and pedestrian hazards, calls for emergency assistance, street furniture repairs, traffic light faults)

**Why should I choose to be a Parking Information Officer at the City of Adelaide?**

Instead of hearing it from us, here’s what our Parking Information Officers have to say:

- I always wanted a job working in the outdoors and that’s exactly what I got. I love that my job is active, outdoors, and that I can call the streets of Adelaide, the parklands, the squares, the city centre “my office”. Many may know that we as Parking Information Officers (PIOs) contribute to the safety of the community and accessibility to the city but what makes the role important for me is that major events and activities in the city cannot go ahead without clear streets and areas in many cases. A key part of my role is to ensure that vehicles don't pose a safety risk or prevent local and international events including sporting matches, The Fringe, motor sport, festivals and concerts amongst other things from going ahead. Many people wouldn’t be aware of our role as ambassadors for the City of Adelaide, we regularly provide information that assists members of the public in their daily activities, such as the location of businesses and services. Having worked here for the past 10 years, I hope I can work here for 10 more.
- I have been in my role for more than 8yrs and still find that On-street parking is one of those careers where the streets of the city is your office and each day you are on a different area so it never feels like ground hog day. One of the highlights of my day is that lunch can be back at the office, at a park or at many food vendors.

**About You**
To be successful in this role you will have:

- Experience in communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of the services offered by Council and of the streets, signs and road markings within the Council precinct.
- Previous experience in a law enforcement environment
- Knowledge of _Australian Road Rules (1999); Road Traffic Act (1961); Road Traffic Act_, DTEI ‘Code of Technical Requirements for the Legal Use of Traffic Control Devices’, Relevant Australian Standards and Austroads Guidelines, and other legislation or willingness to acquire.
- Self-motivated, results oriented and able to initiate actions to ensure objectives are achieved.
