
Specialised Assessment Officer

The Specialised Assessment Officer is responsible for the administration of specialised assessment tools for sexual and violent offenders case managed by Sentence and Case Management Services (SCMS) and Community Corrections.
**In this role you will**:
- Administer specialised assessment tools, including the Static-99R, Stable 2007 and Violence Risk Scale (VRS), to identify, risk, need and responsivity considerations for eligible prisoners and offenders convicted of violent and sexual offences to inform individualised planning, intervention needs and case management strategies.
- Engage in direct interaction with prisoners and offenders across a range of custody and community correctional settings during the administration of specialised assessment.
- Contribute to a culture that ensures sensitive and effective communication with peoples from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds as well as an appreciation of cultural protocols and an awareness of the impacts of historical policies and practices.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders throughout the assessment process, particularly case managers, specialist practitioners, and intervention providers, to support whole of sentence planning.
- Ensure timely service and information provision to relevant internal stakeholders in response to the identification of emerging risks identified during the assessment process.
- Ensure the appropriate exchange of information with internal and external stakeholders to support case management and the individual's journey through the correctional system.
- Support the development of peers in the administration or interpretation of specialised assessment, including peer review, and when requested mentoring and coaching less experienced and / or geographically dispersed staff.
- Maintain contemporary knowledge and training in relation to the administration of specialised assessment tools, intervention services, and case management strategies, and case management strategies.
Qualifications, professional registration, conditions and other requirements:
- Possession of a relevant human services tertiary degree such as psychology, criminology, justice, social work, health, behavioural or social sciences is required.
- Individuals employed on a permanent or temporary basis are required to successfully complete training, and become accredited, in the completion of Static
- 99R, Stable 2007 and Violence Risk Scale (VRS) within 6 months of commencement.
- The incumbent will be required to undertake ongoing training, accreditation, and professional development relevant to the role.
- The incumbent may be required to travel on official business and the possession of a C class licence is required.
