**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Food Compliance Manager & Assistant General Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with assessment and review of imported food product against all pertinent regulations, for compliance to Australian and New Zealand Laws (e.g. Food Standards Code, Australian Competition Law, Australian Consumer Law, Trade Measurement regulations, Customs Act, Intellectual Property etc.) for the Foods Buying team. This is a role suited for a fresh Food Technology/Science graduate who is passionate about compliance and regulatory work. There will be opportunity to upskill and develop within the company.

**Job Duties/Essential Functions**
- Assist in determining the import requirement procedures for a cross section of food items
- Assist in the review of the import item packaging and labelling process for artwork and/or label development
- Assist in the development of in-house labelling for ‘fresh’ food areas
- Liaising with key internal Buying and external stakeholder groups such as testing labs to ensure imported items meet all regulatory obligations
- Monitoring uptake and maintenance of compliance programs and associated documentation.
- Coordinating product reviews, assessing quality and benchmarking exercises
- Providing support to the compliance team for the investigation of product incidents
- Actively managing Costco’s Food Vendor Assurance Program
- Assist in updating Private Label Product development
- Proactively identifying opportunities and issues and take decisive action

**Successful applicants**

Ideally you will possess:

- A degree in Food Science/Technology, Applied Science or like discipline

**Key Competencies**
- 1+ years’ experience in a regulatory, compliance or associated area in either retail, government or manufacturing desirable
- Understanding of the Australian labelling requirements according to the regulatory landscape (State, Federal and Local eg. ACCC, Food Standards Code, Australian Competition Law, Australian Consumer Law, Trade Measurement Regulations, Customs Act, Quarantine Act, Fair Trading Laws, Australian Standards etc.)
- Understanding of Australian import requirements (including the use of associated tools)
