The People, Culture and Capability (PC&C) directorate within People Group is focused on delivering programs of work that support and enable a high-performing and engaged workforce across the department. We are a team of practitioners and experts who enable the Department’s workforce to reach its full potential through innovation, collaboration and empowerment.
The Performance and Accreditation unit, within PC&C, ensures high performance and continuous improvement through improved performance and development of school leaders, teachers and school-based non-teaching staff. The unit also assists teachers to maintain their active teacher accreditation.
**About the role**
As a Policy Lead, you will manage the development and implementation of key policy initiatives to support the performance and accreditation of school-based staff. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with various stakeholders including (NSW Education Standards Authority) to provide advice to support sound policy decisions.
- Undertaking research to identify solutions to resolve complex policy issues
- Driving the delivery of key projects. Current projects in the pipeline include overhauling our current teacher accreditation policy.

**What are we looking for?**
- Previous experience in a policy related role within a government agency
- Strong communication skills with experience preparing correspondences and briefs.
- You are agile and adaptable and are able balance and manage competing priorities.
- Have a passion for enhancing policy resources to support policy engagement.
**Essential requirements of the role**
- Working with Children Check for paid employment
**Key knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated experience managing all stages in the policy lifecycle, including planning, development, implementation and evaluation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
