**What is the P&C Federation NSW?**

The P&C Federation NSW is a membership organisation and peak body representing the voice of public school parents and carers from 1,800 P&C Associations across NSW. This is an exciting period of change and growth, driven by new funding to allow increased service offerings to members.

**The mission of the P&C Federation NSW is to empower P&C Associations and to promote and enhance public education in NSW.**

**About the role**

The Policy and Advocacy Officer is a key member of the Federation’s leadership team, reporting to the CEO.

You will lead the development and implementation of the Federations advocacy strategy, and act as a key contact for government, non-government organisations, peak bodies and other stakeholders.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop, manage, and report on a robust and consistent framework for advocacy issues and actions
- Provide high-level advice to the CEO and Board
- Identify and analyse emerging policy trends and issues in priority areas and make recommendations on achievable outcomes
- Support the Board advocacy sub-committee and coordinate actions arising from meetings
- Manage policy actions arising from the Federation’s AGM
- Provide information and resources to members
- Develop materials including policy submissions, statements, briefing notes, reports, blogs, letters and speaking notes
- Manage partnerships with other relevant bodies to maximise impact
- Represent the Federation at meetings and stakeholder events
- Participate actively as a key member of the organisation’s leadership team

**Skills and Experience**

**To succeed in this role, you will have a sound understanding**
**of the education policy environment in NSW, and high-level strategic thinking and analytical skills**

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience
- An understanding of or prior experience in the education sector is highly desirable
- Experience in policy, advocacy, evaluation and preparation of submissions, briefs and position papers
- Demonstrated success in developing policy and advocacy strategies
- High-level strategic thinking and analytical skills, including the proven ability to map current trends and issues
- High-level writing and editing skills that can be applied to a range of documentation, with attention to detail and a low error rate
- Highly developed interpersonal and diplomacy skills
- Demonstrated project management and organisational skills, including the ability to plan workload, prioritise and meet deadlines
- An understanding of NSW public school parent and carer communities and P&C Associations is desirable
