**Your Role**
There is no typical working week at Flybuys. But here are some of the things you might be working on, day-to-day;
- Playing a major role in ensuring that the organisation protects privacy.
- Go to contact for advice on privacy matters.
- Monitoring compliance with the GDPR and Australian privacy legislation.
- In charge of data protection impact assessment.
- Ensure that internal and external privacy enquiries, complaints, and requests for access and corrections are handled correctly.
- Act as the Flybuys Privacy contact for the regulatory authorities and work with external auditors when required.
- Working with specialists to provide authoritative advice and guidance.
- Build and maintain effective business relationships and collaborate to promote improved privacy practices by bringing together stakeholders (e.g. legal, compliance, risk, HR, security, business functions etc.).
- Ensure that Flybuys staff both understand and comply with our privacy obligations, organise and facilitate internal privacy training to avoid breaches.
- Assess data privacy compliance with relevant legislative frameworks and develop strategies for compliance to help prevent and detect privacy breaches.
- Ensures that formal requests and complaints are dealt with according to approved procedures.
- Work cooperatively with Information Technology stakeholders and support senior leaders in achieving privacy objectives.
- Contribute to the development of policy, standards and guidelines related to privacy data protection.
- Ensures that the policy and standards for compliance with personal data legislation are fit for purpose, current and correctly implemented.
- Ensure third parties comply with our Privacy requirements.
- Assist in privacy related incident response activities.
- Investigate major data breaches and recommend appropriate improvements to avoid future breaches.
**Your Experience**
- 5+ years of relevant privacy experience, including at a law firm, consultancy and/or in-house preferably in the digital space, the customer service industry and/or technology sector.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably majoring in law.
- Strong knowledge and experience of privacy laws and data protection frameworks - namely, EU GDPR principles and/or Asia-Pacific privacy laws.
- Exceptional communication and project management skills, including a strong desire and ability to make complex topics understandable for various audiences.
- Customer service focused with excellent analytical and problem resolution skills. Solution-oriented with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks. An analytical mindset, with a focus on producing quality work in a results-oriented environment.
- Interest in national and international privacy developments, international privacy guidelines and privacy by design.
- One or more certifications from recognized institutions for example, IAPP’s Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certifications or equivalent is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders (e.g. business, legal, IT, security) about data protection and privacy matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Documenting and reporting skills
