Your New Role

In this 12-month contract you will be reporting to the Senior Privacy Officer within the Group Risk function. In this critical role you will help further develop a privacy-aware culture across the organisation. You will work across a wide range of privacy matters, supporting the organisation in maintaining compliance with privacy laws and best practices, and ensuring the protection of member information.

Key duties include but not limited to;

  • Provide privacy guidance to the organisation in relation to:

  • New projects and initiatives with potential privacy impacts

  • Disclosure of personal information to third parties
  • Marketing campaigns and surveys

  • Handle internal and external privacy enquiries, including access requests from members and requests from law enforcement

  • Review and resolve privacy complaints, including providing verbal and written correspondence directly with members
  • Assess and respond to privacy breaches, managing eligible data breaches in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breach Scheme
  • Nurture and maintain internal relationships across all levels of the Fund
  • Engage and influence stakeholders to support privacy initiatives and compliance
  • Ensure the Fund continues compliance with relevant legislative and organisational requirements.

What You'll Need

  • 2-3 years' experience in a privacy-focused role
  • Sound understanding of the Privacy Act 1988, Spam Act 2003, UK GDPR, and privacy reforms (both delivered and forthcoming)
  • Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and manage a range of matters
  • Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to empathise and communicate with colleagues and members
  • Superior written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and concisely.
