**The Role**:

Shell Energy Australia (SEAU) is the domestic energy trading business of Shell in Australia, responsible for gas and electricity trading activity.

You will sit within the Trading and Supply (T&S) Business Integration and Assurance (BIA) team. The BIA team has a broad remit, covering a range of activities such as risk management, business transformation, programme and project delivery, business processes, counterparty onboarding, data, energy market fundamentals & analytics.

This is an outstanding opportunity to gain exposure to the T&S business in a fast paced and commercially driven environment.

**What’s the role?**

As the Business Risk Advisor, you will be responsible for both managing and supporting the management of Operational Risk in the business and the associated control environment, enhancing the risk management approach across T&S Au, holding an integrated view of the business specific control environment including those relating to new business and/or integration activities, and provide business level assurance that controls are designed and operating effectively.

You will also be supporting the rollout of the enhanced risk management approach, working closely with and under the direction of the Business Risk Lead.

Accountabilities:

- Design and implement business specific Operational Risk controls, as well as implementing global T&S processes and controls.
- Maintain business specific risk and controls profile and support cross business lessons learned to cross fertilize best practice.
- Work with Compliance/Regulatory function to develop or enhance monitoring of the design and operating effectiveness of the key controls across the business. Monitoring will include reviewing key indicators, testing and conducting thematic reviews.
- Manage and support business specific operational risk assurance activities, as well as compliance and assurance/audit activities.
- Manage, monitor, and report progress of remedial actions for assurance/audit issues identified.
- Support improvement activities to further automate/digitalize risk management across T&S.

The T&S Au business environment is dynamic with a complex internal and external issues to navigate. You will thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated, and complex environment, with multiple interfaces to other T&S hubs in different locations/time zones; therefore collaboration and communication are key - your ability to work in with diverse skills and views from others in the team.

**What we need from you**

We are keen to hear from individuals with the following:

- Tertiary education is ideal, with relevant years of experience in risk management activities for a business (including compliance and operational risk).
- Experience in high regulated environment, may include banking or other trading environments.
- Should have a good understanding of the purpose of Trading & Supply, customer requirements, competitor positions, regulatory constraints, trading strategies and the mechanics of trading. Including a sound understanding of the commodity value-chains which may have been gained in previous commercial roles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management and engagement skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and strong strategic problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change/business improvements.
