A state-owned company, the organisation operates independently and is chaired by the Hon John Brumby AO. With $2 billion investment by the Victoria Government over the next 10 years and beyond, Breakthrough Victoria is investing in key industry sectors including:
- Health and life sciences
- Agri-foods
- Advanced manufacturing
- The clean economy
- Digital technologies
The Victorian Government is inviting expressions of interest for up to three upcoming board member positions. In terms of commitment, the Board holds meetings at least 10 times a year and devotes up to a further two days for strategy development and review. Director responsibilities also include preparation for these meetings, site visits and attendance at various industry events as well as serving on at least two board committees. Board meetings are predominantly based at the Breakthrough Victoria Offices in Collins Street Melbourne.
To complement the backgrounds and balance of the current Board, we are ideally seeking individuals who present with:
- Extensive and demonstrable commercial experience, including capital markets, capital raising, product development, global/national markets, investment and asset management and IP Mobilisation.
- Extensive and demonstrable finance, audit, governance and risk experience.
Along with technical expertise, you will bring commercial acumen, financial literacy and a sound understanding of robust governance practices. You will be well regarded for your integrity, emotional intelligence, curiosity and courage and are driven by the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the success and prosperity of Victoria.
